Biography
Originally from Clemmons, NC, Taylor is currently an Apprentice with the Alabama Ballet. Before joining Alabama Ballet, she was a member of Cincinnati Ballet's second company, as well as a trainee with The Washington Ballet. She started her training at In Motion Dance Center under the direction of Michelle Nicholson. She studied in the High School program at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts before moving to San Francisco to train at the San Francisco Ballet School. She has been coached by Gyula Pandi, Eva Draw and Charla Genn. Her repertoire includes Helgi Thomasson’s The Nutcracker, Septime Webre’s The Nutcracker, Sleepy Hollow and ALICE (in wonderland), George Balanchine’s Serenade and Nutcracker, Val Caniparoli's Lady of the Camellias and Kirk Peterson’s Swan Lake.
Taylor has several years of experience teaching dancers of all ages. Before pursuing a career in ballet, she danced competitively with a performing troupe for eight years. She specializes in ballet, but also loves teaching and coaching all forms of dance including jazz, modern and contemporary.
Because her training was influenced by several different teaching styles and techniques, she does not adhere to one style in particular, but rather focuses on teaching all disciples with a clean and pure approach. She focuses on refining technique to help dancers strengthen their muscle awareness and increase their understanding of how to incorporate their technique into all forms of movement.
Taylor is looking forward to returning to Encore for another great year working with the dancers and staff at Encore Performance Company!
