Claire Hutchinson, originally from Syracuse, New York, is a company dancer with Alabama Ballet and a faculty member of Encore Performance Company and Alabama Ballet School.

 

While training in the Pre-Professional Division at Miami City Ballet School, she performed with Miami City Ballet in multiple works by George Balanchine, including performing with the company on tour to Lincoln Center in New York City. After graduating high school and completing her training, Claire joined Charlotte Ballet II, where she performed works by Peter Chu, Dwight Rhoden, and Javier de Frutos.

 

Since joining Alabama Ballet, she has had the opportunity to perform works by renowned choreographers including Twyla Tharp, George Balanchine, Paul Vasterling, Christopher Bruce, and Agnes de Mille, as well as contemporary choreographers such as James B. Whiteside and Garrett Smith. Some of her favorite roles include Dewdrop in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker®, Myrtha in Giselle, the Queen of the Dryads in Don Quixote, and the Timekeepers Pas de Deux from Nadine Barton’s WATTS.
